Pretty & Modern

I love the idea of incorporating this sophisticated and pretty floral fabric with a very strong and modern accessory. The True Blue color of the Whitney Lamp highlights the various nuances of blue in the fabric and the teardrop shape mimics the round shape of the floral petals. The fabric is available in my etsy shop and the lamp (also available in white) can be found at Garnet Hill.

A peacock struts its stuff!

This linocut image of a vintage fan was part of a project for my Senior Art Show when I graduated from college. The idea behind the image was that a fan's objective is to bring the outdoor air inside. As I examine it further, its colors feel similar to that of a peacock and in that respect the fan is also bringing the outdoor colors from nature inside as well. The closeup picture reveals how a peacock's feather ranges from a limey yellow-greenish color to a wonderfully intense violet color, similar to the colors used in the linocut. The linoleum block print of the fan can be found in my etsy shop. For more peacock-inspired decorating ideas, visit hostesswiththemostess.

Hot Sixties Colors

Check out these hot sixties colors! This vintage floral fabric would look so great simply stretched over a frame and hung on a wall next to this orange linoleum block print of a fan. The art is my own, and available for purchase through my etsy shop. The fabric can be purchased through my shop as well.

Light up the Night

This vintage fabric piece reminds me of an Arizona sunset, and what better way to light up the evening than with a lantern! This electric blue lantern is the comlement to the previously posted orange linoleum block cut lantern. Both lanterns and this great piece of vintage fabric are available in my etsy shop.

Shocking Pink!

This fabric is absolutely stunning! The color is a bright shocking pink and the crewel embroidery work on it has been so carefully and lovingly applied. The design is so classic, and yet, so relevent to today as I discovered on designers guild (sorry, I'm on a bit of a designers guild kick lately and just received an email with their new autumn collections). This fabric coordinates perfectly with the marinsky scarlet throw or even the graphic work on the mandarin flower black throw .

Electrified!

I'm excited to showcase some of my very own artwork now available in my etsy shop. The top image is a linoleum block cut print of a lantern. My original inspiration for this piece was from a Crate and Barrel lantern that was a modern twist on an old vintage lantern. It is an intense orange color with hints of red and it is sure to brighten up any space. I thought it would look especially nice next to this divine "Esperanza Mango" cushion from Designer's Guild. I love the graphic, yet painterly feeling of these 2 items together!

Pretty Little Flower Caddies

Artistic creativity runs in the family and when my mother surprised my sister and me with these adorable flower caddies, I wanted to be sure to share them with everybody. These would look great made with some of my vintage fabrics (such as this orange and green floral fabric). Click here for the directions and craft away!

Halloween Luminaries

I love the way the light sparkles off the glass from the candles inside these Kerr mason jars. Although I can not confirm these are vintage, they have such vintage charm to them and are perfect for lighting up your Halloween. Tie some twine around the lid and hang them from your trees for a spooky look. Line your pathway with them to show the ghouls and goblins the way to your door. Or, simply set them on your tabletop adorned with a festive tablecloth. This vintage orange tablecloth features fine detailing and is listed in my etsy shop.

Columbus Sailed the Ocean Blue

In honor of Columbus Day...
I love the imagery from the Macy's Columbus Day sale campaign. When I saw the sailboat in their ads, it instantly reminded me of this Vintage Vera Scarf with flags & sails. The scarf has such a patriotic feel to it and reminds me of how lucky I am to live here.

Hoo Hoo-ooo

I really started to get in to the Halloween spirit last night when my husband and I heard 2 owls "Hoo-Hoo-oo-ing" back and forth to each other. Although this Vintage Owl Finial was originally intended for Christmas, I don't see why he couldn't do double duty as part of your Halloween decor as well. And wouldn't he look just grand perched atop this Spooky Halloween Tree from Williams Sonoma!

Petals & Pumpkins

I am loving the simplicity of these White Resin Pumpkins found at Target. (Be sure to check out the Halloween section while you're there.) The color and shape of the pumpkins remind me of the large petals in this piece of Rust Brown Magnolia Blossom Vintage Fabric. I have 2 pieces of this fabric available in my etsy shop.
