I couldn't resist

I was on the hunt for the perfect bag for the summer weather, and I couldn't stop until I found one that suited me perfectly. I searched high and low on etsy for a perfect match to my personality and the moment I saw the "Feel It All Bag" from homegrownskinny, I knew it had to be mine. It's simple and sweet with a little bit of attitude and I'm lovin' it! Be sure to check out all of the other bags in her shop as well. I'm feelin' like I just might need another bag for the fall. Yeah - that's a good excuse to go shopping!

They Just Don't Make Them Like They Used To!

An incredibly detailed drawing of a floral bouquet in gorgeous colors accented with gold and embossing accompanied by a sweet sentiment.
I don't know the date of this little gift tag, but I'm positive it was part of a special gift! This piece of vintage ephemera (just a fancy word for vintage paper items) is now available for purchase in my etsy shop.

So Mod!

I've put this great little footstool up for auction on ebay. It is made from a deep green vinyl and the legs are simple and straight. It would look just perfect in a mid century modern home!
Auction ends Sunday, August 26. There is no reserve, but as of Saturday morning, there is one bid already!

Vintage Goodies

I have a little obsession with finding just the right present for birthdays, baby showers, Christmas...and I love to find unique items that fit the recipient's personality.
I put together this little basket of vintage goodies I think it would make a perfect birthday present for a little girl with a vivid imagination. I know I could have spent hours with this vintage Melmac tea set as a little girl entertaining "guests" or playing "mommy"!
Set includes 2 cups, 2 saucers and a 2-handled dish in a wicker basket and is available in my etsy shop.

"Indiepublic is an independent art and design community. If you're an artist, designer, retailer, blogger, or just someone who gets giddy when they buy indie, we've saved a seat for you!"
I decided to join indiepublic as it looks to be a great networking resource for independent designers. Each member creates their own profile and has the ability to join different groups with similar interests. There are forums as well as learning libraries. Click here to view my page and click here to visit the main indiepublic page to see if it might be something you want to join!

Fish out of water

Fellow, Southern California artist, Karine Swenson, creates a dreamlike world of flora and fauna through her use of paint and pastels. With my love of water, how could I resist this enchanting "Fish out of Water" card from her etsy shop?

A Lucky Girl

I am the lucky recipient of these gorgeous earrings from mysunsetroad via Indiefixx. I'm loving the silvery steel-gray color and the unique shape. They add the perfect touch to my favorite outfit!

Another Contest!

Inspiration can be found all around us and Holly, over at decor8, is great at getting her readers to stretch their imaginations. She is now sponsoring the Fabulous Stationery Contest: Cards as Inspiration. All you have to do is choose one notecard from Fabulous Stationery and choose 3 rooms that relate to that notecard somehow. Here is my explanation of my entry for the contest: The name of the card I selected is, "Skinny Initials." Perhaps a bit of an unusual choice for the contest, but I love the use of contrasting colors as well as the use of negative space. I was also drawn to the linear quality of the letters. I primarily used the contrasting colors of turquoise and orange in varying shades for the rooms and accessories. White also became an important color in each of the rooms. I chose the porch image because I love to consider the outdoors as an extension of our living areas. The bedroom image was chosen for its use of color. I could not find another room that fit perfectly with my vision, so I chose some items I thought would work well together in a room. It is always important to me that a room evoke an immediate sense of "wow" and each of these rooms make my eyes light up with delight!
Why don't you try one of your own? More details can be found here.

Yellow Fever

According to my posts lately, it may seem as though I'm on an endless vacation living on a kayak (don't worry I've spared you many of the kayak pics we've taken!), but I assure you I've been hard at work and my creative wheels are spinning. To get back into the swing of sewing and get those creative juices flowing even more, I whipped up this little pillow yesterday made from vintage fabric. I know yellow is still hot right now in interior design and the deep navy blue and tan will carry this look over into the fall as well. If you have just the right spot for it in your home, make it yours by visiting my etsy shop where I sell my own handmade and vintage items.

Etsy Poster Contest

This is my entry for the etsy treasury poster contest. If you are not familiar with etsy, it is a creative marketplace for people to buy and sell handmade and vintage items. Etsy has a feature called the treasury, where users can choose 16 items and arrange them into a grid. Other etsy users can then view each of the treasuries, click on a specific item, go to the shop owner's shop or make a comment for others to read. It's a great way to get to know other shop owners, find some great things to buy and stretch the imagination trying to get just the right composition of items. These treasuries have become so popular, that etsy is going to choose 20 entries into their contest as the winners. The lucky winning treasuries will then be printed and handed out at craft fairs. The contest deadline is today, and the winners will be chosen Wednesday, August 8. Many of the entries have been posted on the etsy poster flickr pool. Good luck to all the participants!
