Purple Amethyst
Although I do not know the date this vintage purple and red Vera Neumann scarf was created, I do wonder what inspired her to choose the deep amethyst purple and lively cherry red that are so unexpected, but so beautiful together. Although purple is not so en vogue right now, I have seen it start to sprout up (Martha Stewart, afterall, has created an entire Christmas line around the lovely color.) The deep jewel-like tone is also proudly displayed in these hand-etched glasses by Artel. Featured here are just 2 pieces in the "baroko" glassware series inspired, in part, by the 1920s. Designer, Karen Feldmen, heavily influenced by the glamour of the Czech Republic, where she lives, has created an inspiring collection of glassware which is created in Prague by her modern glassmaking company, Artel.
