Day 5 - Elko, NV

What's a boy to do when the market is down 777 points?
Gamble our 77 dollars away in the middle of "Nowhere, Nevada" to hit a 777 on the slots.

Day 5 - Truckee River, CA

So many photos...so little internet access across
and Wyoming!

I imagine these are the kinds of sights Deefor Dog was taking in during our morning walk along the Truckee River. Nah, who am I kidding, all she cares about is, "SQUIRRELS!"

Day 3 - Truckee River, CA

Fishing buddies on the Truckee River

It got a little too deep for the Doops, so Sean lent a little helping hand.

Day 3 - Reno, NV

It's always good to leave Reno with more money than you came with.

Street Vibrations, a.k.a motorcycle mania.

Day 2 - Mammoth Hot Springs, CA

A good old fashioned cattle drive...

across the freeway.

One of Sean's favorite fishing spots - the Hot Springs in Mammoth.
I woke up in time to snap a photo of Sean fishing with little brown dog by his side (lower left hand corner) while 3 deer crossed the creek (upper right hand corner).

Doopaloop looking for fish.

On Vacation!

In typical Lorenz-fashion, we decided to go on a vacation.
Last minute.
With only a few certain destinations in mind.
For an unknown amount of time.
Day 1 highlights included a trip to Outdoor World / Bass Pro Shops / Islamorda Restaurant.
I highly recommend the free sugar encrusted bread. It's to-die-for.

Just when I thought...

Just when I thought our little Doop -Dog had chased every last squirrel out of town, (you should see the look on her face when we are driving down the dirt road and yell out, "SQUIRREL!") the little fluffy-tailed critter hiding in this hole proves me wrong. They are mighty hard to track down when they are underground because you can't tell where the chirping is coming from. But this little guy was right out in the open. He must have been distracted, or perhaps he was just blind, because Little Brown Dog went right up to him and scared the bejeezus outta him. I fear if I hadn't been there to reel her back in, this little guy might have met his maker today!

There are better things to live for.

Keeping up on Asian Foreign Relations. It is an election year right?

So, the Yo Diddles Mr Skittles (Yoichi is the name his mother gave him), decided he needed to one-up-me in a game of "who has the most travel now sucker". He got a new mountain bike frame. Up until a couple of weeks ago we were riding the same 4" KHS frames. He upped the ante', and is now riding a 5.5" Azonic. Quite a beauty I must say.

We took the Azonic on it's maiden voyage to Noble Canyon 2 weeks ago, then on a 20 miler last weekend. Today we pulled 30 miles and I think we bit off more than we could chew... I've slept since I got home today at noon! My body told me "ah ahh, son...Take a seat, tough guy...I'll call you when I'm ready"

To many more miles aboard the new steed! Cheers.

Ps: Please notice proper bike building requires proper tongue placement. I've stuck my tongue out like that since I was a wee lad. It happens when ever I'm concentrating. I'm bound to bite the sucker off...

A Slight Problem

I'm guilty of keeping many things I buy that are meant for my etsy shop. Sometimes an item I like never even makes it into my shop and sometimes an item I like makes it into my etsy shop and then "accidentally" disappears from my shop.
Currently this vintage leather hand tooled purse resides in my shop. If you like it, I suggest you hurry before I change my mind. Ladies, if you see me on Friday night with this beauty draped across my body, you'll know I got weak.

Dr Laura got a bit ahead of heself

In response to Dr Laura's blog post on the Palin Family structure.

This really ticks me off. Dr Laura is full of it, and has become her own worst enemy at the moment. DL I love ya, but the over the top commetary can be quilled for the moment, the other side is providing plenty of fotter, no need to contribute... Mam, may I respectfully ask, not right now, not just yet, in due time please.

I absolutely believe 1 parent needs to be home all the time. We (Lorenzens') have set ourselves up for this when the time comes. Suzy will be home raising our children. Dr Laura paints a picture that would eliminate me as a parent and may infer, to those not familiar with the radio show, that a male parent is not fit to serve as a full time stay at home dad. Her statements taken to their ends would depict this, yet I don't think Dr Laura believes this if asked plainly: Do you believe a stay at home dad fits into the family structure?

It has not been widely spread in the media yet, but Todd Palin will be cutting back on his oil field job and his fishing business should his wife be elected VP. Let's take a quick step back and ask ourselves what spouse of the President or VP has kept their day job? The answer is none in recent history. Yet, Dr Laura paints a picture of the Palin Family that isn't true, somewhat unfair, and very premature.

Dr. Laura got ahead of herself by putting junk like this on her blog with out letting the structure of the Palin family home play out, and it speaks to Dr Laura's agenda. The agenda is a great one, but pretty transparent, and easily questioned by her/our opponents on the liberal left. An agenda is great, an over zealous transparent, hole ridden agenda gives fuel to a fire that isn't needed.

Dr Laura stated, "When Mom and Dad both work full-time (no matter how many folks get involved with the children), it becomes a somewhat chaotic situation"

Bottom line, Dr Laura's blog statement is wrong and presumptuous, Todd Palin is not keeping his day job or his fishing business and leaving his children to be raised by his family members. Family will undoubltly be a huge help in the Palin Family. I'm sure Dr Laura's statement will be retracted soon enough, but in the mean time, Dr. Laura is doing a disservice to the cause of stay at home parenting.
