I've been tagged

Recently, I was tagged by my friend Jenn over at hostess with the mostess. So, now it's my turn to share 6 strange and interesting things about myself. I always enjoy getting to know a little more about my friends in the blogging community and I hope you learn a little something about myself.

•1• For such a girly little blog, I am actually quite a tomboy. I love mountain biking, hiking, backpacking, rock climbing and driving our dune buggy out in the desert! I have even been known to try my hand at: surfing, wakeboarding, kneeboarding, water skiing and snow skiing . The picture above is my husband and me riding our bikes in Gooseberry Mesa, just outside Zion National Park in Utah - this area is one of my favorite vacation destinations!

•2• My husband and I traveled around for a month on our honeymoon and only had 1 destination on our itenerary (we made up the rest of the trip as we went along!) We saw the first privately manned trip to space in the middle of the Mojave Desert by Space Ship One! We also: went mountain biking in Sedona; took a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon; rode jet skis in Lake Havasu, went backpacking (and got lost!) in the Sierras, took a river rafting trip through Yosemite, rode our bikes all around San Francisco, drove down the beautiful California coast and topped it off with a trip to Magic Mountain!

•3• I have lived in the desert, at the beach, in the big city and we now live in the country.

•4• I seem to have a problem letting animals just have one name. I always have to give them multiple nicknames. For instance, the cute little dalmation curled up at my feet right now, well his name is Neil, but we also call him: Neilson, Nelson, Neiler-Wheeler-Dude, Poopers, Punkin...just to name a few!

•5• The funnest holidayI have spent was the 4th of July a few years ago. My husband and I, along with a few of our friends, paddled out on surfboards near the pier in Ocean Beach. They shoot the fireworks off from the end of the pier, so they literally explode right over you! That night we also experienced the effects of the red tide, so each time we moved our hands through the water, it just lit up a gorgeous bright blue-green color!

•6• Ok, this one is weird and I'm embarrassed to admit it but, I sleep with my arms clenched close to my body. I'm not cold or mad, I just wake up that way!

So, now it's my turn to tag someone. I'm going to send it overseas and tag Rebecca at Piccalilli.

Handcrafted Goodness

I was so thrilled when this pretty little apron from mwiebe sold off my etsy treasury list. You see, today is my parent's 40th wedding anniversary and we celebrated this weekend with family. One present my parents received was a dvd my cousin made. Included on the dvd were gorgeous photographs of my dad's mother and father. There were so many amazing pictures, but the ones that really stood out to me were the ones with my grandma standing there so pretty in the clothes she designed and made for herself. This beautiful green apron reminds me of something my dad's mother might have made. I am glad to know that people today still appreciate and create such handcrafted beauties still today!

Shocking

I debated on whether or not I really wanted to stay up until 1:00 am to create my lastest treasury, but boy am I glad that I did. This morning I woke up to my latest treasury on the front page of etsy! Below, are the talented artists featured on the list, or go here to check it out for yourself! Retro Flower Cushions

I absoltely adore this pillow cover that I received today as an early birthday present! The colors are so refreshing and I can't wait to add it to my decor. Decorating with pillows is one of my favorite ways to change my decor to either match my mood or the season. A change of pillows and a change of artwork on my walls is all I need to get me excited about my surroundings again.

If they won't stay put...

These vintage crochet hangers are not only pretty, but practical, too. I have certain pieces of clothing that are always falling off their hangers, but with these pretty crochet versions, clothing is sure to stay put. These would also make the most precious baby shower gifts as I just love to give the kinds of gifts that will stay with the little one throughout the years.
This set includes one hanger each of: grass gree, sky blue, cotton candy pink and orange & banana! These pretty little hangers are sold out!

Buttonpom on Etsy

One of the "drawbacks" to creating so many great-looking treasuries on etsy, is that I fall in love with the things I feature! I featured this little wallet from Buttonpom in my second treasury and could not stop thinking about it - it's so me. So, I purchased it. And I absolutely love it and couldn't be more thrilled to own it. It's made from a reproduction fabric in some of my favorite colors. The colder it gets here, the more I find myself loving everything summery!
Check out more great finds from Buttonpom here.

Another Little Valentine

Pink, orange and green! An unusual color combo, but after such a positive response to my treasury list on etsy, I think it works! Here we have another card made from cardstock, ribbon and a vintage handkerchief! So pretty. Can you tell I can't wait for spring and summer to roll around?! Click here to view this card in my etsy shop.
*Update* This item is sold!

Please excuse my obsession!

Apricot, Kiwi and Cherry. I am so much more of a spring/summer girl, so I need to spice up my middle of winter day! Click here to see my latest etsy treasury.

Won't You Be My...

Valentine?
I created this card from an old vintage handkerchief, vintage ribbon and snow white cardstock. The right side is diecut and there is a vintage coordinating olive green ribbon on the inside of the card that peeks through. The best part about this card is that it can be used for so many different occasions. It's perfect for Valentine's Day, birthdays, anniversaries or just to say hello. And who, in this day, doesn't appreciate a little correspondence by snail mail.

Hot Chocolate, anyone?

What drink wouldn't taste good in this lovely little pedestal mug. Curled up next to the fireplace with this mug in your hand, sipping hot chocolate sounds like an ideal night in of perfect movie watching. And of course you will want to protect your surface from excess heat and why not do it in style with this vintage rooster and floral fabric. Placed underneath your mug, it becomes an instant coaster!

Mmmm...Mmmm...Good

With the "chilly" winter weather (I do hesitate to call it cold because we do live in Southern California, after all) I find myself eating a lot of soup and this little potholder is perfect to grab my bowl of soup and set it on the table. I am truly in love with the latte bowls (orange bowl peeking out from the top corner) from anthropologie and although the colors I purchased are no longer available, I guarantee you will not be disappointed with their replacements. And since you receive 6 bowls in a set, each in a different color, you can always pick a color to match your mood.
The potholder is available in my etsy shop and the bowls are available from anthropologie.

Pretty Purple & Pink

My grandmother had a set of aluminum glasses similar to the one pictured above, so when I came across a set of 4 small glasses, I knew they had to be mine. And doesn't this one look adorable sitting atop this vintage-fabric-acting-as-a-coaster! I have a set of 4 pieces of this fabric available. Each piece has been stitched all the way around and the edges have been allowed to fray. They would look perfect as napkins atop your dining table, as coasters as pictured above or any number of crafts for your upcoming Valentine projects!
If you would like to purchase this fabric, please contact me.

Fresh From the Oven!

This charming vintage potholder looks positively perfect underneath the very first piece in my (ever-growing) collection of vintage Pyrex. I inherited this refrigerator container from my mother which had been passed down from her mother. I love the way this particular pattern, called Butterprint, lights up the whole kitchen any time I bring it out. This small container features bushels of corn next to a rooster and the larger pieces also contain images of a farmer and his wife. Too cute for words! Not only is the pattern to die for, but would you take a look at that color! I think this is where my love of turquoise comes from! And it just looks so pretty atop the wintry light aqua, cornflower blue and bright orange blooms on this potholder.

If you would like to purchase the pot holder, please contact me.
